Bearing seals, also known as Cellasto rings, are used as additional seals for rod ends and radial spherical plain bearings. They protect the bearing from dirt, moisture, and grease loss, preventing wear on the sliding surface and significantly extending service life. The Cellasto sealing ring (CD) is made of PU (Polyurethane) and features a partially open-cell structure impregnated with oil and grease, ensuring a self-lubricating effect and extended lubrication intervals. Thanks to its ability to compress up to 80%, the seal remains effective even under large pivoting and tilting movements, while being fully compatible with DIN/ISO 12240-1 (series E) bearings. These properties make Cellasto rings ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications such as hydraulic cylinders, agricultural machinery, and construction equipment.
Cellasto PU (Polyurethane) – density 450 kg/m³ (MH 24-45)
Properties: high resilience, low permanent deformation, temperature range from -20°C to +80°C (temporarily up to +100°C)
Radial spherical plain bearings, rod ends, hydraulic cylinders, tractors, construction machinery, agricultural and industrial equipment.
Radial spherical bearings and rod ends are commonly used in oscillating or tilting movements. These motions must be absorbed between a rod/shaft and its connection, or when the shaft position is not perfectly perpendicular to the fixture or installation.
High-performance radial bearings must be lubricated regularly. Bearings with PTFE linings can be used maintenance-free.
Contamination of bearings increases wear on the sliding surface and can eventually cause bearing failure. This can be prevented by using the correct sealing ring. Cellasto seals (CD) have long proven to be an excellent choice for sealing radial bearings.
The cellular polyurethane (PU) material has excellent physical properties, such as low permanent deformation and correspondingly high resilience. It also offers good cold elasticity and high resistance to oil, grease, and fuel.
For nearly all radial bearings, a suitable Cellasto seal is available according to DIN/ISO 12240-1, dimension series E.
The dimensions of radial bearings are standardized according to DIN/ISO 12240-1. Depending on the working pressure of the bearing, you can choose between steel-on-steel or hard chrome on plastic (PTFE Teflon) configurations.
We supply Cellasto seals (CD) in MH 24-45 quality (density = 450 kg/m³). On request, harder or softer seals are also available.
To ensure constant sealing performance, the seals must be preloaded before installation. Compression should reach a maximum of 35%. During operation, the seals can then be exposed to about 70% compression.

Cellasto has a partially open-cell structure, which allows it to be impregnated with oil or grease. This makes it serve as a lubricant reservoir for longer lubrication intervals.
Because of the relatively large sealing surface (as opposed to the single “line contact” of O-rings) and the high strength of this material, Cellasto seals remain fully effective even under the toughest conditions — for example in tractors and construction machinery.
They can be compressed up to 80%, allowing for very large oscillating movements, such as those found in radial spherical bearings.
When using Cellasto seals as a sealing solution, it is possible to significantly increase tolerance ranges because their compressibility ensures an effective seal.
The easy deformability allows for quick and simple installation, even in difficult situations.
The low compression set guarantees a long service life, even under high deformation frequencies, further supported by its excellent resistance to oils and greases.
Oil- and grease-impregnated seals enable automatic lubrication of bearings and increase sealing efficiency against dust and other contaminants.
