An example of a static seal is a Bonded Seal, also known as a Usit Ring, Multi Seal, Dowty Seal, Dyna Seal, Mega Ring, or simply a washer.

These seals are used for sealing flange connections, bolt heads, hydraulic lines, threaded fittings, and cap or plug nuts.

Using Bonded Seals helps prevent the leakage of gases or liquids in your application.

A Bonded Seal consists of a rigid outer ring made of hard material and an inner ring made of elastomeric material, which functions as the gasket.

Bonded Seals are widely used in hydraulic systems, especially in applications requiring the sealing of bolt heads.

Due to the metal outer ring, Bonded Seals are particularly suitable for high-pressure systems. Heat and pressure are required during the manufacturing process to bond the seal to the outer ring, ensuring it remains securely in place.

This design enhances resistance to cracking, increasing the seal’s pressure capacity. Some models include an additional rubber flap on the inner diameter, also referred to as a self-centering ring.

Materials

A Bonded Seal consists of a metal outer ring with a vulcanized trapezoidal sealing ring on the inside.

The choice of material depends on your specific application. What medium and temperature will it encounter?

Additionally, factors such as pressure and duration must also be considered. For a Bonded Seal, the metal ring always determines the maximum pressure the product can withstand.

The most common materials used for Bonded Seals are stainless steel and carbon steel, with elastomers such as NBR and Viton (FPM, FKM).

Metal Materials

Steel (CR6-free galvanized), Stainless Steel 304, and Stainless Steel 316, as well as zinc-chromium plated options.

Elastomer Materials

NBR, Viton (FPM, FKM), EPDM, Silicone (VMQ), FVMQ, HNBR, EPDM, and CR.

Additionally, materials are available with certifications such as KTW, WRC, NSF, WRAS, ACN, FDA, and R67 01 LPG GAS.

Bonded Seals are available in various designs:

The most common types are without centering and with centering.

A Bonded Seal with centering offers several advantages. The centering feature keeps the Bonded Seal or Usit Ring (Multi Seal) securely fixed to the bolt or fitting.

This makes it ideal during assembly and disassembly.

 

Dimensions

The size of a Bonded Seal depends on the dimensions of the nut, bolt, screw, or flange you wish to seal.

The standard sizing of the Bonded Seal corresponds to the standard sizing of the bolt, nut, screw, or flange.

You can also select the Bonded Seal based on metric measurements.

    Een voorbeeld van een statische dichting is een Bonded Seal, ookwel Usitring, Multi Seal, Dowty seal, Dyna seal, Mega ring of gewoon Onderlegring genoemd.

    Deze worden gebruikt voor het afdichten van flensverbindingen van boutkoppen, hydraulische leidingen, schroefkoppelingen en sluit en dop moeren.

    Door het gebruiken van Bonded Seals voorkom je lekkage van gassen of vloeistoffen in uw toepassing.

    Een bonded seal bestaat uit een ringvormige buitenring van hard materiaal met een ringvormige binnenring van elastomeer materiaal dat dienst doet als pakking.

    Bonded Seals word over het algemeen veel gebruikt in hydraulische systemen. hier worden ze vaak toegepast in een toepassing waar je een boutkop moet afdichten.

    Bonded seals zijn, vanwege de metalen buitenring, zeer geschikt voor hoge druk systemen.  Omdat de seal op zijn plek moet blijven is er warmte en druk nodig, zodat de seal aan de buitenring gehecht kan worden.

    Deze structuur verhoogt de weerstand tegen barsten, zodat de druk van de afdichting toeneemt. Sommige ontwerpen worden geleverd met een extra rubberen flap op de binnendiameter (ook wel een zelfcentrerende ring genoemd).

    Materialen

    Een Bonded Seal heeft een metalen buitenring met aan de binnenzijde gevulkaniseerde trapeziumvormige afdichtingsring.

    Welk materiaal er gebruikt moet worden hangt af van uw toepassing. Met welk medium en temperatuur komt het in aanraking?

    Daarbij moet er ook rekening gehouden worden met de druk en tijd. Bij een Bonded Seal bepaalt de metalen ring altijd de maximale druk die het product aankan.

    Het meest voorkomende materiaal bij Bonded Seals is RVS en Staal, met als elasomeren NBR en Viton (FPM, FKM).

    Materialen elastomeren:

    Uitvoeringen

    Een Bonded Seal is leverbaar in meerdere uitvoeringen:

    De bekendste zijn de zonder centrering en met centrering.

    Een Bonded Seal met centrering heeft zijn voordelen. Met centrering blijft de bonded seal / usitring Multi Seal gefixeerd op de bout of koppeling zitten.

    Ideaal dus op moment van montage en demontage.

     

    Afmetingen

    De maat/afmeting van een Bonded Seal is afhankelijk van de afmetingen van de moer, schroef, Bout of flens die u wilt afdichten.

    De normering van de Bonded Seal is dan gelijk aan de normering van de bout, moer, schroef of flens.

    U kunt de Bonded Seal ook selecteren op metrische maten.
